There is always hope. How could this little dog be aware of the nature of it's predicament - how could it be aware that things could have been otherwise than that which they are. It is not bound by the physical bonds of it's condition - it just exists, unselfconsciously and optimistically revelling in every moment. Perhaps this is all a little too strong (or even - grandiose) for the probable limited reflective consciousness available to a small dog but you can see by it's bright demeanour that it is not burdened by it's physical reality. Perhaps I reflexively "write" into it's expression that which I hope to see ?
Recent events in my own life and of those close to me have shown that the stark ignorance of the seriousness of a situation is quite possible for a human being but it is in the unrestrained optimism of response to life that we can all learn a little about "lightening up" and just living in the moment.
